Carnivorous plants |
Rights-Managed, Editorial |
Worldwide, 2010
Carnivorous plants are plants that get a part of their nutrition from the bodies of animals. They trap mainly insects and other arthropods.
Usually they grow in places where the soil is thin or low in nutrients. There are more than a dozen carnivorous families of flowering plants with hundreds of species already classified. Each traps their prey, produces digestive enzymes and absorbs nutrients.
